More registered than the stated capacity

count-over-capacityon by defaultJapanese / English

A stated capacity smaller than the number registered

Example

Capacity: 90 seats, first come, first served As of November 6, 95 members have registered.
What chaff prints
1:11 The capacity (90 seats) is smaller than the number stated later (95 members)
Fixed

What chaff prints

How to fix

Check the capacity and the number, and correct the wrong one. If places past the capacity go to a waiting list or a ballot, say so.

Why it matters

When an invitation says "Capacity: 90 seats" and later "95 members have registered", one of the two numbers is wrong, and readers have to ask whether they can still register or will get in on the day. Only numbers of people that carry a word of capacity ("capacity", "limited to") or of registration ("have registered", "invited") are compared, and only when the document states one capacity.

What it does not flag

A document that mentions a waiting list or a ballot, a capacity per session ("20 per session"), last year's or a previous event's numbers, numbers of different things (30 groups and 45 people), a document stating more than one capacity, and numbers without a word of capacity or registration are not compared.
