How to fix

Check the list price and the tier price, and work the discount out again.

Why it matters

On a volume price list, with a list price of $0.080 per envelope and a tier price of $0.072, the discount is 10%. When the discount column says something else, the reader cannot tell whether the price or the discount is right. It happens when a price is corrected and its discount is not, or when another tier's rate is copied. The two cells of one row, in the columns whose headings name the discount and the price, are compared with the list price: a list-price column of the table, else the one list price the document states, in a sentence ("The list price is $0.080 per envelope") or a row (| List price | $0.080 |). The discount is 1 − tier price ÷ list price, rounded to the digits the rate is written to.

What it does not flag

Rounding down, to the nearest or up, to the digits the rate is written to, is read as right, and so is a tier price that the rate gives once rounded to the price's digits. Nothing is compared with no list price in the document, with two different list prices, with the list price and the tier price in different units ($ and €, per box and per envelope), or with a price not below the list price (an invoice's price before its discount). A column whose heading names tax, markup or margin is not read as a discount. A table with two discount or two price columns is not read.
