How to fix

Remove it from the preferred list if it is a must, or from the required list if it is only welcome. If the preferred item asks for more, say how much more, such as "5+ years".

Why it matters

When a posting lists a qualification under "Required" and again under "Preferred", the reader cannot tell whether it is a must or only welcome, and cannot decide whether to apply. It happens when one line is copied in place of the one that was meant to be rewritten. The list items under a required heading or label (Required, Requirements, Must have) are compared with those under a preferred one (Preferred, Nice to have, Bonus points), and an item in both is pointed out where it is preferred. Case, full and half width and punctuation are ignored. A length of experience (3+ years) is taken out before comparing, and the two are read as the same item unless the preferred one asks for more experience.

What it does not flag

A preferred item asking for more experience (required "Python", preferred "5+ years of Python") is read as welcoming a higher level, and is not pointed out. Two items saying the same thing in other words ("bookkeeping" and "accounting"), different grades of a certificate, conditions written in a table, and conditions run together on one line ("Required: Python, Go") are not compared. A list without a required or preferred heading or label is not read.
