A share above 100%
share-over-hundredon by defaultJapanese / English
A share of a group over 100%, such as "120% of respondents"
Example
How to fix
Check the source figure and correct it. If growth or a comparison was meant, say so ("120% of last year's level", "up 20%").
Why it matters
A share of a group, such as "120% of respondents", cannot pass 100%. It is a misplaced decimal point (12.0%), a mix-up with another figure (growth on last year), or a mistyped digit, and the reader stops trusting the number. A part never exceeds the whole, so a machine can tell.
What it does not flag
Only percentages written as a share of a group in the share-whole word list (respondents, employees, users and so on) are read. Growth and comparisons ("120% of last year", "110% of the budget") and percentages with no group ("120% attainment") are not reported. Code is not read.

Levels
Set a level for this rule under rules in chaff.yaml. With nothing set, it runs at the level its genre gives it (see By genre below).
| normal | error |

| relaxed | warning |
This rule has no limit to count to. A level sets how a finding is marked: relaxed keeps the finding and marks it a step lower.
