An uncomparable adjective given a degree

uncomparable-gradedon by default (info)Japanese / English

A degree given to a word that has none, such as "very unique"

Example

Flagged
The design is very unique.
What chaff prints
1:1 "very unique" grades an adjective that has no degrees
Fixed
The design is unusual.
What chaff prints
no finding

How to fix

Drop the grade, or use a word that has degrees ("very unique" → "unique", or "unusual"; より最適な → 最適な, or より適した).

Why it matters

"Unique", "unanimous" and "impossible" (最適, 完璧) name a state that holds or does not. "Very unique" or "more unanimous" (より最適な, とても完璧) adds nothing, and tells the reader the writer did not weigh the word. The phrases are listed in the lexicon.

What it does not flag

Only the pairs on chaff's list are checked. Words that say how close ("almost unique", "nearly impossible", ほぼ完璧) are not reported. A superlative stacked on a superlative (最も最適) is redundant-expression's, and より最適化する (optimise further) is not reported. Literature is not checked.
