Humble form used for someone else's action
humble-for-otherson by defaultJapanese
A Japanese humble verb used for what the reader or others do (伺ってください)
Example
How to fix
Use the honorific form instead (お越しください, ご覧ください, おっしゃいました).
Why it matters
Japanese humble verbs (伺う, 拝見する, 申す) lower the speaker's own side. Used for the reader's action (伺ってください) or dressed with an honorific (申される), they lower the reader instead.
What it does not flag
Only the forms on chaff's list are checked. A phrase whose present negation makes the form a potential (何とも申されません, "I cannot say") is not. 伺われる is not, as it is also 窺われる ("can be seen"). Forms some guides accept (お伺いください) are not listed. Literature does not run this rule.
